YoCrunch® products voluntarily recalled by Danone US due to potential presence of plastic pieces in dome topper
Danone U.S. is voluntarily recalling YoCrunch® products sold at retail stores nationwide, due to the potential presence of plastic pieces in the dome topper, according to an All Food and Drug Activity message sent July 15.
Consumer complaints have reported the presence of plastic pieces in the toppers, which have the potential to cause choking. The plastic pieces are transparent, may have sharp edges and could present a risk to consumers because some pieces are between 7 and 25 millimeters in length.
The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, chief, public health division, DeCA Headquarters and Support Center at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The issue is isolated only to the separately packaged topper and does not impact the separately packaged yogurt. This recall applies to all flavors and sizes of YoCrunch® products currently in market.
DeCA carries the following products affected by this recall:
- YoCrunch® kids yogurt strawberry M & M, UPC Code 4667501312
- YoCrunch® kids yogurt vanilla Oreo, UPC Code 4667501350
- YoCrunch® kids yogurt vanilla M & M, UPC Code 4667501351
Consumers with questions about the recall can contact the YoCrunch® consumer care line at 1-877-344-4886. Consumer care specialists are available to speak live Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm Eastern Standard Time.
